Centerbase’s birth was on an airplane napkin. Founder John Forbes needed an all-in-one platform to run his tech company. So he scribbled the idea of Centerbase down on his flight — a workflow, billing, accounting, and CRM system designed to run his midsize company.

While Centerbase was leaving the napkin and coming to fruition, John’s daughter was attending law school. He started exploring life in law firms for his daughter and realized “Most law firms still use server closets and spreadsheets to manage their practices. I wonder if they need something like Centerbase…”

Who Centerbase Was Made For

And John’s hunch proved to be true. He asked several Dallas-based law firms what features they’d want in an all-in-one platform. And started building solutions based on what those practices really needed: flexible and scalable software that was powerful, but easy for tech-novices to use.

Fast forward a few years of development and ongoing customer feedback, and Centerbase debuted at the 2017 ABA TECHSHOW. When the second day ended, there was a long line of legal consultants at the booth who were tired of offering out-of-date firm management products. Their excitement was proof that the years of research had paid off. And Centerbase was the next breakthrough in legal tech: a cloud-based, personalized platform to manage and grow law firms.
